Get Started with a Learn Local Program

SLAC is registered with the Adult, Community and Further Education (ACFE) Board. The quality and structure of all pre-accredited programs are regularly reviewed by the ACFE Board. More information about the ACFE Board is available on the Department of Education and Training’s website.

Our adult education programs are designed to help learners gain the confidence and the skills needed to look for a job or go on to further study. They include courses in communication, job search skills, getting ready to go back to work and literacy and numeracy.

We offer adult education classes in several locations around the Dandenong and Casey council areas. You can find the exact locations for our current courses on the Courses (insert Course page link here) page. Many of our classes focus on English as a second language and offer opportunities to grow in written and verbal English. Our classes are learner-focused, meaning the tutors seek the input of students concerning what topics should be covered and prioritised.

SLAC offers several classes to women who are refugees or immigrants from Afghanistan. These classes offer Dari and Pashto translation so that beginner learners can feel comfortable in class and ask more difficult questions in their home languages.
